     I know it sounds odd, but in the Medicare world the amount of money a plan cost per month is rarely the largest concern in choosing a plan.  Just because a prescription drug plan has the cheapest monthly premium doesn’t mean it will save you the most money that year.  It could end up costing you double.

     Many people associate quality with a brand or company name.  We live much of our lives by these beliefs; however, when thinking about Medicare and selecting the plan that is right for you there are a few things to understand.  Medicare over sees the guidelines and safeguards for plans offered to people under Medicare.  A company that may have been rigid or not competitive on the individual side before Medicare might be the perfect company to fulfill all your needs and wants.  

Friends, Family, and Neighbors 
     It is normal to ask people around about what plan they have and how they like it.  Just because a plan is perfect for your friend or family member does not mean it will be the right plan for you.  We have husbands and wife's living in the same home who are on completely different plans because they have different needs.  Speaking with a broker who is looking out for your best interests is the best way to learn an unbiased opinion of what the best plan is for you.  Regardless of your specific situation, being educated about all of your options is the key to being satisfied once you have made a choice.
